The Rockaway Waterfront Alliance and the NYC Department of Transportation partnered with the Rockaway Artists Alliance for the morning event.

The group started in good spirits at the RWA’s Beach 59th Street headquarters. Led by RWA’s Mark Hoffacker, they took a leisurely ride through Rockaway and up to Fort Tilden. Also leading the group was Kyle Kozar of Regional Plan Association and Alice Friedman from DOT.

After a scenic six-mile ride along the peninsula, they arrived at historic Fort Tilden, part of the National Park Service’s Gateway National Recreation Area.

The exhibition, on view till September 1, Labor Day, is a collaboration between RAA, The Museum of Modern Art PS1, NPS and the JBRP Conservancy. It also includes a component at the Rockaway Beach Surf Club.

Longtime member and well known Rockaway artist Esther Grillo took everyone on an exclusive guided tour through each part of the exhibition, offering an inside look at the multifaceted showcase.
