Earth Day at Jamaica Bay

Saturday, April 22 marks Earth Day 2017! Are you looking for a way to celebrate the environment here in New York City? The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge will be hosting two volunteer events as part of the day:

Jamaica Bay Spring Spruce - 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Help us clean up the trails, pick up trash, and prepare the park for its busiest season.

Weeding Warriors Orientation and Planting – 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Join our newest volunteer initiative in restoring several acres of upland habitat in the South Garden. On Saturday, we will focus on the small pond by the Visitor Center, removing invasive plants and replacing with native species.

RSVP for either (or both!) events by emailing Park Ranger Tim Farrell or calling the Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center at 718-318- 4340.
