Pheffer Amato To Host E-Waste Event

Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato, in partnership with the Lower East Side Ecology Center, the NYC Department of Sanitation, Rockwood Park Jewish Center and Bayswater Jewish Center says that her office will be hosting a second e-waste recycling event at Bayswater Jewish Center, 2355 Healy Ave. in Far Rockaway, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on April 23.

“Electronic waste is a major environmental hazard. Too many people just drop computer parts in the garbage,” said Pheffer Amato. “If e-waste isn’t processed the right way, it can poison sanitation workers and our water supply. So that’s why events like these are so important, and why I wanted to host two right here in our community. Our first one resulted in hundreds of pounds of e-waste, and it was a lot of fun. I highly encourage everyone to come on down and take advantage of the opportunity to dispose of their old computers, phones and more, safely and for free!”

The drop-off opportunity is open to everyone. Accepted items include working and non-working computers, monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, cables, TVs, VCRs, DVD players, phones, audio/visual equipment, cellphones and PDAs.
