Happy Mother’s Day!

An Intern’s Take
By Ilyassha Shivers

It is that special day when you can show the woman that carried you for nine months, raised you and took care of you how much she means to you. I don’t really like to celebrate Mother’s Day since I lost my mom 17 years ago. When she died, I think a piece of me died as well. I have been trying to resurrect it ever since. My mom was a special lady. She overcame a lot of adversity and left an amazing legacy. I named my daughter after her, in hopes that she will follow in her footsteps. You see my mom was a great singer, she was a gifted writer and most important she loved God. I want to wish all mothers a wonderful Mother’s Day.

To those of you who still have a mother who is living cherish every moment, celebrate each day, because one day they will be gone.
