The communications coordinator who calls the peninsula home will compete on the quiz show - now in its 33rd season in syndaction - with 23 million viewers watching.

"I’ve been watching the show since I was a really young kid and I know it’s a cliché but it really was like a dream come true," Watton told The Wave. "I took the online test a few years ago and they contacted me [about doing] an in person audition in Washington DC and then they contacted me in January to tell me that I was actually going to be on the show (which filmed in late February). It’s been surreal since they contacted me."

The last contestant from New York to appear on the show, Joe Nguyen, an attorney from Manhattan, was a returning champion and garnered a three-day winning total of $77,202.

Catch Watton on the show next Tuesday on WABC-TV at 7 p.m.
